About Mullen Brothers Landscaping
Our Story
Mullen Brothers Landscaping was co-founded by brothers Joel and Matt Mullen in 2023 with a simple mission: To help people connect with their piece of nature.
It’s difficult to enjoy your outdoor space from behind (or on top of) a lawn mower. It’s even harder if that space is unfinished. When you work with Mullen Brothers Landscaping, you’ll stop spending your weekends doing yard work and finally get to enjoy your outdoor space with your family.
You have dozens of landscaping companies in the area to choose from. We believe there are three things that set us apart from the competition:
We have a system for providing consistent quality work.
Our communication is clear and timely.
Our recommendations are influenced by our love of nature.
You might find a company with one or two of these attributes, but we believe that we’re the only company in the Westborough area that has all three.
Our Core Values
These are the five immutable laws we run our business by:
We view landscaping as a craft, not a trade.
We never settle for good enough.
We strive to do what's best for the environment of each property.
We respect each other's role on the team.
We care about each other, our customers, and the environment.
Meet the Crew
Joel Mullen
Joel’s lifelong passion for horticulture began with an interest in the art of bonsai, which grew into a career. Prior to co-founding Mullen Brothers Landscaping, he was the lead tropical tree grower and head of education at New England Bonsai Gardens, where he helped grow delicate trees and taught others how to care for them.
Joel spent four years teaching bonsai at the New England Botanical Garden at Tower Hill in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Joel’s interests led him to serve as an educator at Kaikou School of Bonsai and the past president of Kaikou Bonsai Study Group. Joel volunteered as a member of the Worcester Tree Initiative through Tower Hill Botanic Garden and he is also a member of the programming committee for the Cactus and Succulent Society of MA.
His love of nature and horticultural expertise drive our eco-friendly landscaping philosophy.
Matt Mullen
Before Mullen Brothers Landscaping, Matt worked alongside Joel at New England Bonsai Gardens, where he developed expertise in washing, drying, and sifting soil aggregates to support healthy plant growth.
Matt combines a strong work ethic with his love for the outdoors to help us maintain our commitment to sustainable landscaping.
